DJ Skills & Remixing Professional Certificate

Train to become not only the complete DJ using vinyl, CDs and MP3s, but become a better Producer and Remixer, too. It's inevitable that when you reach a certain status as a DJ you'll be asked to remix, and as a Producer you'll benefit from your DJ experience to understand what makes a track work both on the dancefloor and on your iPod.

Pass criteria

In order to obtain a DJ Skills Professional Certificate, you must complete the following courses with a minimum score of 80%

DJ Skills - Club DJ (8 weeks - 2 credits)

Starting from the essentials of setting up the equipment and beatmatching techniques on turntables and CD players, you'll learn what makes the difference between an average DJ and a great one, getting promotions and career advice along the way.

DJ Skills - Digital Mixing (8 weeks - 2 credits)

Create professional-quality mix CDs, convert vinyl and CDs to MP3 and other formats, and learn how you can mix with a laptop and still maintain the traditional hands-on approach to DJ mixing.

Ableton Live 101 (3 days, intensive - 2 credits)

Learn how to use ableton live 8 to create unique mixes and mash-ups, producing remixes on-the-fly in real-time for a crowd or laying the groundwork for a studio project.

Ableton Live 201 (3 days, intensive - 2 credits)

Learn how to use effects and other plugins to give your productions a professional touch. Analyze your favourite music to understand arrangement, structure, mixing and apply it to your tracks.

Where can you go from here?

Even before the end of the course you will possess the technical skills to start creating mix CDs and approach club owners and promoters for gigs. Although we cannot guarantee a job (in the end it's going to be your talent and musical taste to make the difference), we are often approached by promoters looking for DJs and throughout the course we offer practical advice that will help you to turn DJing in to a full-time job.

With a proper understanding of Ableton Live you can now improve and adapt the music that you buy to make it fit your unique musical style, and before you know it you'll be producing some completely original work. Coming from the DJing world, you'll make a better Producer than most musicians because you're used to testing the reaction of the crowds to any type of music and you understand the importance of keeping the interest alive throughout every section of a track.

The value of LSS Certification

London School of Sound is a private college and the certificates we award are recognised around the world, thanks to the reputation we have built as a professional training institution.

Existing accreditation bodies often have little real value with respect to music production. In contrast, we develop our curriculum and certification system to reflect the skills actually needed in the creative industries and in the music industry in particular. However, as a consequence our accreditation system cannot be considered equivalent to any type of formal qualification in the UK or abroad.

This means credits gained from our courses cannot be used towards a degree, nor can they be used as an equivalent to GCSE, A Level or University Degree.

As an Apple Authorized Training Centre we award certificates on behalf of Apple, limited to the Apple Logic Pro Training Programme. These are accepted and recognised by every other Apple Training Centre in the world.
