Electronic Music Production - 4 Weeks Course

Whether you are a complete beginner or have already some experience using software like Reason, Fruity Loops, GarageBand and others, this course will give you all the crucial knowledge and practical experience to produce a complete track using professional software.

This is an intensive practical course that we run only in the Summer for those that can't attend our full Certificate courses during the year. With four weeks of practical lectures, three hours a day, five days a week, you will be given all the tools that you need to produce music professionally in any style of music.

Dedicated Workstations

The classes are strictly limited to just nine students, each one with a dedicated iMac fully loaded with software and sounds, so you don't need to have your own computer to attend this course. In fact, if you want to, you can also use our computers outside class hours to work on your own music.

During these four weeks you will be able to test our equipment and understand everything you need to know about audio interfaces and midi controllers, which will save you from expensive mistakes when you are ready to invest in your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which Software is used for this course?

A: The main software we use is Apple's Logic Pro but you will also be able to use a variety of other software instruments and effects that are installed on our computers.

Q: Why Logic?

A: Logic is the only software that provides a complete music production environment, including professional-grade effects and instruments as well as a vast sound library, and with the latest price revision it is also the most affordable. Learning the principles of sound engineering and music production in Logic makes it very easy later to transfer your skills to any other software or hardware. Other software can be just as good at getting the job done (Reason, Ableton Live) but then you wouldn't have the techniques to produce other styles and use more complex equipment.

Q: Do you have a course on music production using Ableton Live, Cubase, Pro Tools?

A: No, but we offer integrative courses or customised one-to-one sessions to cover for any music software, equipment or technique. Speak to our office for more details.

Q: Is this course useful for other styles other than Electronic Music?

A: Yes. The knowledge you gain in using MIDI, effects, audio editing, mixing, etc, can be applied to any style and equipment. However, since all the music we produce in this course will be inside a computer, you will have the best results if you are interested in a style of music that is mainly based on electronic sounds. So this course is ideal for anything from pop to dubstep, house, techno, trance, hip-hop, urban, grime, drum'n'bass, and will still be useful to anyone interested in later studying pure sound engineering to record more acoustic instruments.

Q: Do you provide accommodation during the course?

A: No, we have found that our students prefer to have the freedom to choose where they are going to stay and how comfortable they want to be. You may have already friends or relatives in London, or you might like to come with other people and share expenses while you combine your studies with a holiday in London, and searching online you can find all sorts of solutions, from bed & breakfast to renting a flat for the Summer.

Q: Is the software or computer included in the cost of the course?

A: No. We understand that you may already have your own software and computer, and it wouldn't make sense to make the course more expensive to sell you something you don't need. You may also prefer to have the choice of exactly which computer configuration and software you want to buy rather than accepting a choice that someone else does for you. Instead, you can count on us for the best independent advice, since we do not sell equipment and have no connection with any manufacturer or shop.

Q: Do you provide any kind of certificate for this course?

A: Yes, at the end of the course you will receive an attendance certificate. More importantly, with the help and guidance of your tutors, you will have produced a track or remix of your own which you can upload on Soundcloud or Youtube, so you will really have something to show for your efforts.
