New units allow students to use their software or choice while still learning on industry-standard platforms, and increase the opportunities for work experience during the course.
The modular nature of the curriculum allows for more flexibility and, for those on limited time or budget, for the first time these lectures are also available individually, outside the structure of the Diploma.

Which is best > Sound Engineering or Music Production course?
It depends on what are your priorities. Ideally you should do both and both at the same time (as it happens when you take a full-time Certificate), but if you have to pick only one as a part-time course consider this:
Music Production is mainly computer-based, it goes beyond learning just the equipment and it's very focused on creating your own original music. If you plan to produce electronic music or if your studio is going to be mainly based on a laptop this course is for you.
Sound engineering will also cover using computer software to record, edit, and mix, but will not involve creating your own music. It will instead teach you how to record acoustic and electric instruments, understand microphones, hardware mixers, and it's the best place to start if you intend to be working in a recording studio or in live music.
If in doubt contact London School of Sound, arrange an interview with a lecturer and tell us more about what you'd like to learn.
