Music Production 101

MP101

Everything you need to know to put together a home studio and start making records including programming beats, creating original sounds, sampling, midi, mixers and effects, and microphones. There's also a crucial introduction to the music business, so that when your music is ready, you are ready too.

This module includes the Apple Certified Logic 101 training programme, also available separately.

  • Effects: natural vs artificial effects, auxiliary sends and insert connections
  • Subtractive synthesis and sampling
  • Microphones: operating principles and practical use
  • The virtual studio, analogue vs digital, building a home studio
  • Logic Pro and Express Apple Certified Course: from set-up to burning the final audio CD
  • Dynamic processors: noise gates, compression, multi-band compression and more
  • How to remix a song: advanced time-stretching and other approaches
  • Music business part 1: where the money is, who the players are – and why you care!

Full-time or part-time?

MP101

The course lasts 16 weeks, with a frequency of one lecture per week of six hours for the first 12 weeks and the last four weeks dedicated to the final assignment.

Course requirements

There are no age restrictions and no previous experience is required, but we will evaluate each application individually to assess the seriousness and commitment of the student.

Having access to a computer to practice at home is crucial. If necessary, we will help prospective students to find and configure the right equipment before the start of the course.

Most computer equipment, software and musical instruments is available to students at reduced prices, so before you buy anything check with us to see if you are eligible for a discount.
