Sampling & Copyright Masterclass

Following on from February’s highly successful Art & Science of Mixing Masterclass, we’re pleased to announce the third in our series of one-day special events – this time on Sampling.

Running on Saturday 28 July 2007, the one-off Masterclass will cover areas ranging from advanced sampling techniques to issues involving copyright and sample clearance. Practical demonstrations will be used throughout the day, alongside examples from well-known commercially released tracks.

The cost of the Masterclass is £80, with early-bird concessions available up to 1 July for £65. LSS students can book for just £50. For full details on the day check out the website or email us at info@londonschoolofsound.co.uk to book your place.

BBC film documentary at LSS

London School of Sound recently played host to camera crews from the BBC filming a new documentary on the studio’s previous occupants, Pink Floyd. The documentary gets together some of the original participants in the legendary Another Brick In The Wall track and looks into the making of The Wall. Keep your eyes on the BBC listings…

Opportunities & Offers

Work experience with the Freestylers

Heavyweight Management is looking for a bright, enthusiastic and reliable individual with a passion for dance music to join the Freestylers team for work experience – hours flexible to suit. The Freestylers are one of the world's premier dance/breakbeat acts with four albums under their belt and a hectic worldwide DJing schedule.

The role will involve helping out in the studio, A&R assistance (in terms of finding new vocalists for the guys to work with and keeping them informed of new trends), and making sure they have an active online presence through MySpace and Facebook, etc. We are also looking to develop a Freestylers club night and compilation so there would be involvement in the organisation and promotion of this as well.

It is an ideal opportunity for an organised and dedicated person who is keen to learn about the workings of a basic recording studio and also the wider music industry.

Please send a short covering letter and your CV to the address below, or email simon@heavyweightman.com
