LSS News

Well, not surprisingly it didn’t take too long to fill up the remaining places on our extra Music Production class announced last month. For those who missed out on September’s courses, the next MP101 Essentials Certificate is scheduled to start on 26 February 2008 and we’re taking bookings now.

If you’re looking for a more advanced course or have already completed the MP101, the good news is we still have a few places left on our level two courses to choose from – details below…

Structure, Form and Creativity

The ideal follow-up to the MP101, this course looks in more depth at the creative side of music making. If you're the type who never seems to finish tracks, this course is for you. You’ll cover topics such as critical listening, structure and arrangement, inspiration, and the creative process – and most importantly you'll learn what makes a great piece of music. The course starts on Wednesday 26 September and runs for 18 weeks. For full details go to MP151: Structure, Form and Creativity.

Art and Science of Mixing

The first course proved a success, so we’ve decided to run the Art & Science of Mixing evening course for a second time starting on Monday 1 October. Designed as a professional-level series of lectures, you’ll get to hear the secrets of what makes a good mix from the experts while working on your own tracks at the same time. For more details go to MP321: The Art and Science of Mixing.

Pink Floyd documentary screening soon

See a slice of LSS history in the One Life BBC documentary series, as we play host to a program looking at the making of Another Brick in the Wall. The series starts on Thursday 18 September at 10.30pm on BBC1, although the exact screening date of the Pink Floyd show has yet to be decided. Keep your eyes on the listings…

Geek or chic?

You'll either love it or hate it, but it's worth having a look either way. New from ON, a giant graphic equaliser in a frame (or, as ON would have you believe, 'an electronic dynamic luminous sculpture') that actually reacts to the sounds in your room. Check it out at www.on-machine.com
