LSS Newsletter Issue #11 - November 2007

LSS News

A newsletter shorter than usual this month, to let you know what goes on while we prepare even more news for the next year.

LIVE 7 + Free Plugin

First of all, in just a few days Ableton will release Live 7. We have been playing with the beta release for a while and it is absolutely fantastic. If you have 6, upgrade now, if you have never tried Live, download a demo.

To celebrate this new version we have created our own VST plugin, which you can download for free from the Resources section of our website, to provide a DJ-friendly alternative to the EQ-Three that comes bundled with Live. Our plugin solves a problem that arises when trying to use absolute controllers (such as those of the Hercules DJ Console or the Pioneer DJ800) to control the eq-three as if it was a traditional DJ mixer, and we are sure that a lot of DJs will appreciate our efforts.

We are also planning an Ableton Party, with demos and freebies, but you'll have to wait until next month to have an official date.

Everybody Myspace

We have finally joined the internet revolution and started our myspace community. Yes, five years after everyone else. And, yes, it's ugly, slow and messy, but now more than ever it's really the place to promote your music.

Please join us on www.myspace.com/londonschoolofsound and start promoting your music, gigs, events and anything else cool or not-so-cool :)

From the web

Pink Floyd minus Watersif you were looking for something fancy to buy for Christmas, Pink Floyd's entire studio discography will be bundled in a 16-disc boxed set called "Oh By the Way," due Dec. 4 via Capitol/EMI. The pressing will be limited to 10,000 copies.

The box spans Pink Floyd's 1967 debut, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," to its 1994 swan song, "The Division Bell," with a new portrait collage from longtime visual collaborator Storm Thorgerson. Also included is a 20" by 30" poster.
