LSS newsletter #27 – November 2009
Thanks to everyone who came to the party at Gilt last month, and a big ThankYou to all those who played records on the night.
It was a good evening with lots of people and probably too much to drink, all paid by the school's benevolent fund for staff/student welfare :)
We might have another one sometimes next year, so stay tuned.
Tuesday 3rd – evening, 7pm to 9pm
Ableton / Novation evening demo for the new Launchpad controller
Saturday 14 – afternoon, 12pm to 4pm:
Korg/Vox with Joe M
Saturday 21 – afternoon, 12pm to 4pm:
Ibanez & Laney Event, Laney Prism Launch
Thursday 26 – evening, 6.30pm
Freemasons' dance music masterclass at the British Music Experience(£ 8)
The first three events are completely free, and are organised in collaboration with Digital Village.
It's always a good idea to attend, as often the people demonstrating the equipment are experts in their field and there is always something to learn from asking a few questions.
Add to this the social networking, and the fact that often there will be promotional gadgets, free drinks, and sometimes competitions with a ridiculously high chance of winning...
LSS students have free access without the need of booking in advance. Registration is required for everyone else, and LSS students should register too if they want to be entered in prize draws.
To register for any of these FREE events, please e-mail events@digitalvillage.co.uk stating which event you would like to attend.
Logic 9.02 update
If you prefer not to use software update or if you just like to keep a copy of the installer you can download Logic 9.02 (changes and bugfixes here) from http://www.apple.com/confirm/logicstudio/osx.html
The new Logic 9 exam and training classes will probably be moved to December, due to delays in the preparation of the new course material: we can happily blame Apple for that.
We anticipate a lot of demand for the first classes so call our office now to register your interest and be among the first to reserve a place.
Pro Tools 101 and 110 certification
We are now running regular weekend courses leading to Digidesign certification. These courses give you the opportunity to take the 101/110 exams (included in the price) and get an official certification to boost your CV.
You also get a free course book and dvd, free plugins worth hundred of pounds with the 110 class, and a whopping 40% discount on your next Pro Tools purchase!
We strongly suggest these courses to anyone interested in using Pro Tools 8 for recording, editing and mixing. In some cases buying Pro Tools and learning on your own would actually cost more than taking this course and then buying Pro Tools.
For semi-experienced users it is possible to skip the 101 class and jump straight in to the 110.
For more details check:
Pro Tools 101- two days introduction course
Pro Tools 110 - three days course
And from the blog, even more Free Plugins & Free Samples
