One week, Monday to Friday.
One week to learn whether you are cut for this industry or not.
Good for beginners, but even better if you already some professional experience as a musician, event organiser, or in management.
The course is meant for beginners so there are no strict requirements to attend. Ideally you should already be familiar with the concepts of Intellectual Property, Copyright, royalties collection and collection societies (such as PRS in the UK and BMI / ASCAP in the United States).
If in doubt, contact our office and speak to an advisor: we can also arrange one additional one-to-one session to cover all the basics and prepare you to make the most of the Music Business Summer Camp.
The course consists of five daily sessions:
By the end of this course you will have a better picture of the music industry and how different professional figures fit in to it. You will have cleared doubts and learned things you didn't know. More importantly, you will have a much better idea of what it takes to start your career in the business of music.
This course is developed and led by Steve Melhuish. Steve's experience with Music Business started in the late '60s managing the first Virgin Records shop with Richard Branson; since then he has been involved in a variety of music enterprises and teaching roles, establishing a record company and leading University courses before establishing his own Music Business School.
